Adhesion testing is an important method of evaluating the bond strength of a waterproofing membrane to its substrate. This type of testing is especially important for areas such as rooftops, podiums, bathrooms, laundries, and balconies, which are more likely to experience high levels of moisture.
WISE Corporate Australia use the Elcometer 506 combined with the use of aluminium or stainless steel dollys and a hydraulic pump. Adhesion testing can measure the strength of the bond between the membrane and the substrate. When a strong bond is created, the waterproofing system is more likely to perform well and last longer; while an insufficient bond can lead to de-lamination of the membrane and premature failure.
